A Fashionably Interactive Burberry Christmas Card

Thu 20 Dec 2012

It’s that time of year again – and we just love it. Christmas cards, wrapping presents and a good excuse to go shopping. Jelly are feeling really fashionable this year as we have been busy bees animating a digital Christmas card for Burberry.

We collaborated with Fred Aven and Rachel Bishop from Unit 9 who were commissioned by Burberry to create the concept. Jelly director, Rumpus elegantly animated the illustrations before Unit 9 developed other elements within the composition.

The illustration was based on Burberry’s new flagship store on 121 Regent Street which has been designed as a physical manifestation of the Burberry website, known as Burberry World Live. The surreal retail experience encourages a new way of connecting people so it makes perfect sense that their Christmas message should embrace social media.

The piece features an inquisitive fox and an owl whose silhouettes swoop along the scene whilst a graceful couple explore the store together. Subtle elements like glittering snow and twinkly starlight set a chic style to the composition that perfectly reflect the brands identity. “On the first day of Christmas my true love sent to me – a jelly note in an ad by Burberry.”
