A trip to the IBM Zoo with Plenty

Tue 28 May 2013

Our astounding creators PLENTY have recently finished an innovative digital project for Ogilvy New York’s client IBM, promoting their CLOUD computing services. (Cloud is a computing model providing web-based software, middleware and computing resources on demand).

Plenty said that this project was  a great one because it had time to develop which gave them the chance to create some remarkable characters, to a precise brief wherein the characters needed to be friendly but not too cartoonish. IBM is communicating to a professional audience so the family of refined characters needed to appeal to different ages and ethnic groups alike.

In the knowledge that the final render would be for a small format on-line banner, they created highly detailed characters in simplistic environments so that each render performed at an optimum output across all browsers.

Plenty were given a lot of freedom once the client, IBM and agency, Ogilvy NY had supplied references, brand guidelines and art direction. They modelled some of the characters and buildings in 3D Max but mainly stuck to Cinema 4D and rendered their compositions through VRay.
