Futures illustrator Joe Waldron has just finished illustrating a cover for the Wall Street Journal Europe. He has also created three separate illustrations for an article in the ‘Off Duty’ weekend section of the journal. It’s about how amateur extreme athletes train, think along the lines of bankers training for mountain endurance runs and that sort of thing… Each spot was designed to lean towards comical stereotypes of business life and sports equipment. Joe’s creative process started with roughing up various ideas from the brief before moving into computer works. He wanted the illustration to contain the movement and energy so worked with lots of layers. The cover which has been crafted in Joe’s signature character style is a chaotic mix of all the above named activities… And smoothies… Fruit mixtures of course!
